No Need to Hate

Imagine, can you imagine about this?

Yes you can, but you don't always think about them [sharks].

When you do, you think as them as mean blood-thirsty animals, don't you? You feel afraid and that's part of how you hate them.

Before the movie Jaws no one really was scared of them, but Jaws was a movie of a shark eating people and that’s why everyone made a jump to a conclusion.

The person [Peter Benchley] who made the book Jaws had regretted to make such a scary book about an animal cause then everyone was afraid of sharks [read the National Geographic article on White Sharks: “I became convinced, too, that considering the knowledge accumulated about great whites in the last 25 years, I couldn't possibly write Jaws today… not in good conscience anyway”, page 12 of the article by Peter Benchley ].

My teacher Ms. Geal said hate can be a strong word, too much. And I said to everyone I try to convince that sharks are good, we can be afraid but there is no need to hate.

A great white shark devours bait set outside a cage that protects a human diver. The great white is the fiercest of the sharks, eating tuna, sea lions, dolphins, other sharks, and carrion—but not humans. Great white sharks occasionally attack humans due to mistaken identity or invasion of the shark's territory by people.
Great white sharks can be up to 21 feet (6.4 meters) long and weigh up to 7,000 pounds (3,175 kilograms). They can swim at 15 miles per hour (24 kilometers per hour) to attack their prey

Let them Live!

Have you ever said to your friends you like dolphins better than sharks, and then they asked you why? Well of course, but then you are not very sure, so what do you say? You might say because they eat people (they don’t) or they are not cute and they are evil but you are super wrong. I love dolphins but I like sharks better because first of all, you can swim with them, secondly, they are predators but are becoming prey and they keep the echo system of the ocean balanced.
After my dad told me about the sharks being endangered I started studying about them. I found out you can swim with them. When I was about 7 we went to Manly, in Sydney then one day my mom found out we could join a club The Mermaid Club or The Shark Club. I had to join the shark club because the mermaid club was closed. First I was a bit upset but then after our team captain told us we were going to swim in the tanks of the aquarium I was so pleased. I got to swim with all kinds of sharks especially I think the Hammerhead my favorite! But why did it not attack me? Because they are not Cold Killers! Sharks would never attack you on purpose like a crocodile would.
Sharks are top predators just like dolphins but they are also prey. A man called Rob went to Japan to protect the sharks. He joined a team that was also trying to protect them too. One day they came up to a fishermen boat they told them to stop and let them bring them to the port but any time they came closer to them they would just kill more, they had to attack them with water pistols. My dad said some people care more about the money then the lives, and I could see he was right because I could see what does people were doing and I knew now that it wasn’t just in fiction books of people who were greedy. The shark fins are very precious and that is why  people fish them more than dolphins.
So you see sharks are very important. They protect our beautiful ocean by keeping it clean eating rays so they don't take over the ocean (to many of them) they eat the fishes that eat the coral and other things that are important. You also have to know that more people get hurt with other animals like squirrels and that we are the real monsters and that we destroy the homes of innocent creatures just like sharks. If you never knew this sharks are scared of us and hate us for food. So next time someone tells you sharks are bad think twice.

Sharks for the World

Imagine an ocean with no sharks. The ocean would be full of dead animals and the ocean life would be out of balance. Sharks are the ones that help us. Sharks are important because they eat dead animals that float on the sea and eat parrot fish and other types of fish that eat coral, so let’s help the sharks because they deserve to live.
Firstly, sharks are garbage men to us and the ocean. That means they clean up the ocean, they eat disgusting, dead animals. They are like sea vultures. If there are no more sharks the ocean would full of dead animals, it would be filthy, and if you are a tourist, going to see dolphins, you’d see dead animals instead.
Secondly, there will be no more sharks for us to investigate.
Sharks are mysterious animals to us. There are so many things we don’t know about them and their lives (but we still know some things about them and how they live.).
Most importantly, if there are no more sharks, parrot fish and other types of fish will eat all the coral and they won’t give it a chance to grow. That means there will be no place for the seaweed to grow and no place for the fish to lay eggs, it would destroy the whole ecosystem.
So let’s keep the ocean clean, let the fish lay their eggs and let them do their business because then no more ocean no more sharks no more coral and no more fish, so you might think sharks are mean and cruel but actually they are important in life so let’s help the sharks survive and live.

Why are sharks important

People say sharks are bad but actually they are very important in the ecosystem of the ocean.
Sharks clean up the ocean for us. They eat dead animals and leave the ocean nice and blue.
Also sharks are important to us because they are mysterious to us.

And the most important thing, if there are no more sharks, parrot fish and other types of fish will eat all the coral.
A wealthy reef means that the sharks are Ok around here!

My animal facts: Hippos

Hippos

Hippos are mammals

That means they are not born by egg.

Hippos color.

Some people might think hippos are purple or blue, they are wrong, Hippos are blue and purple in cartoons. Hippos are actually the can be gray or dark brown with pink dots on its head. Ok maybe they can be purple or blue but its really not possible.
